1. Prescription Drugs - Certain prescription drugs contribute to the increase of bone loss. Examples include: Antiseizure medications (only some) such as Dilantin or Phenobarbital, Aromatase inhibitors such as Arimidex, Aromasin and Femara, Cancer chemotherapeutic drugs, Cyclosporine A and FK506 (Tacrolimus), Diabetes medications, Epilepsy drugs, Glucocorticoids such as cortisone and prednisone, Gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) such as Lupron and Zoladex, Heparin, HIV/AIDS therapy drugs, Inhaled steroids for asthma, Lithium, Medroxyprogesterone acetate for contraception (Depo-Provera), Methotrexate, Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) such as, Nexium, Prilosec (omeprazole) and Prevacid, Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) such as Lexapro, Prozac and Zoloft, Tamoxifen (premenopausal use), Thiazolidenediones (Actos and Avandia), Thyroid hormones, etc. This is not a complete list. If you take a medication that is not listed here, you are advised to contact your doctor or pharmacist to find out if your medication(s) is known to cause or contribute to excessive bone loss. 2. Bisphosphonate Drug Use (such as Fosamax, Actonel, Boniva, etc...) for a period of several months and then interrupting use, starting/stopping results in poor quality bone which needs to be replaced requiring additional time. If you start the Grow Bone Challenge, the first year may be dedicated to replacing the poor bone before building regular bone mass.
3. Early Post-Menopause – The first five years after the onset of menopause results in rapidly falling bone density.

*In each of the above situations the Grow Bone System is still highly recommended as it may slow the losses, or increase bone density.
